Sustainability initiatives

Increasing climate hazards, unpredictable seasons, and dwindling natural resources have led us to a clear conclusion: we must act.
For wine professionals, environmental challenges can no longer be ignored. That is why we have embarked on a sustainability journey, built around a series of commitments tailored to the realities of winegrowing and winemaking. Meaningful action is required at every stage — from vineyard to cellar to marketplace.
With this in mind, the new sustainability initiatives of Centre-Loire Wines cover the entire process, from production to the sale and promotion of the wines crafted by our artisan growers.

Biodiversity Week:

Sustainability is one of the key challenges addressed in the sectoral plan developed by Centre-Loire Wines. Biodiversity lies at the heart of winegrowers’ concerns. Keen to protect the local flora and fauna, collective actions are carried out each year, particularly during Biodiversity Week.

What it involves:

  • Planting and managing shrubs and hedges
  • The “Clean up our vineyards” initiative
  • Grafting workshops
  • Installing nesting boxes to encourage birds to settle in the vineyard
  • Conferences and workshops on grapevine decline

Biodiversity Week is also an opportunity to highlight the research undertaken in Centre-Loire to maintain sustainable viticulture that respects the environment. It is a week of awareness-raising and mobilisation of wine professionals around a shared goal: keeping our vineyards alive!
