LABEL - Created towards 1860, the label is used to notify the consumer of compulsory comments (name of the appellation, capacity, alcohol content of the wine, volume, surname, address and occupation of the bottler ). The vintage, the awards won and the grape varieties are optional comments.
LEAF - Thanks to photosynthesis, this part of the vine feeds the plant and especially produces the sugars of the grape.
LEES - They are formed by the sedimentation of (dead) yeasts after the fermentation. They are usually eliminated during the rackings.
LEGS - It refers to the marks left by the wine on the inside surface of the glass. (Synonymous with tears).
LENGTH IN MOUTH - Time during which the pleasant sensations of a wine are perceived after tasting.
LIQUORICE - Aroma present in the red wines of Châteaumeillant and the Coteaux du Giennois.
LOCAL, LOYAL AND CONSTANT CUSTOMS - Traditional wine and oenological practices in a vineyard, implemented to obtain A.O.C labels.
LOIRE - The Loire is the last European wild river. This 1000-km river runs across the third A.O.C wine-growing region of France.
